Why choose the Enhanced Sight Test?

Most serious eye conditions start with no symptoms at all. By the time you notice a change in your sight, some damage can't be undone. The Enhanced Sight Test adds two advanced scans to your free NHS examination, so we can find problems at the earliest possible stage.

• Find problems years earlierThe OCT scan looks beneath the surface of your retina and optic nerve, picking up early signs of glaucoma, macular degeneration and diabetic eye disease, often long before they affect your sight.
• See the whole pictureA standard retinal photo shows around 15% of the back of your eye. optomap® captures around 82%, including the outer edges where tears, detachments and some other problems begin.
• See it for yourselfWe show you your own images on screen and explain exactly what we see.
• A record for the futureYour images are kept so we can compare them at every visit. Even very small changes can be spotted and acted on early.

Quick and comfortable: each scan takes seconds, nothing touches your eye, there's no puff of air, and you usually won't need drops, so you can normally drive afterwards.

Especially worthwhile if you

• are over 40
• have diabetes or high blood pressure
• have a family history of glaucoma or macular degeneration
• are short-sighted
• have noticed flashes, floaters or changes in your vision
• are visiting us for the first time
