Emergency eyecare

Seen today, not next week.

Whatever your eye problem, your first port of call should be your optometrist — not your GP.

Need help now?

During opening hours, call 01236 449955. When we're closed, call NHS 24 on 111. For a serious injury or chemical in the eye, rinse with clean water and go to A&E or call 999.

Our practice is part of the Lanarkshire Eye Network Scheme (LENS). If you have any concerns about your eye health or changes to your vision, we will endeavour to make space to see you the same day, using specialist equipment not available at your GP.

All of our optometrists are qualified Independent Prescribers, so they can prescribe treatment for many eye problems — saving you a trip to the doctor. Where needed, we have excellent links with local GP practices and the hospital Ophthalmology department, built up over more than 30 years.

Call us the same day if you have:

  • A red, sore or painful eye
  • Sudden flashes of light, or a shower of new floaters
  • A shadow or “curtain” across your vision
  • Sudden blurred, double or distorted vision
  • Something in your eye, or a scratch to the eye
  • A sticky or discharging eye
  • New or worsening sensitivity to light
  • Pain or redness with your contact lenses

Sudden loss of vision needs urgent attention — call us straight away or, if we're closed, NHS 24 on 111.
