Visiting & appointments
Do I need an appointment to look at frames?

You're very welcome to call in and browse during opening hours. Our personal styling service — colour and face-shape analysis — is complimentary, by appointment only; please call the practice to book.

Is there parking?

Yes — there's plenty of free parking in two car parks right next to the shopping precinct.

How do I book an eye examination?

Book online in a few quick steps on our appointments page, or call us on 01236 449955.

What should I bring to my eye examination?

Your current glasses, sunglasses and contact lenses, a list of any medication you take, and details of any eye conditions in your family.

Is the practice wheelchair accessible?

Yes — the practice is fully wheelchair accessible. If you have any other access needs, just let us know when you book and we'll do everything we can to make your visit comfortable.

NHS & costs
Is my eye examination free?

Yes — NHS eye examinations are free for all UK residents in Scotland. How often you're entitled to one depends on your age and eye health.

What is the Enhanced Sight Test?

An optional addition to your NHS examination that includes optomap® ultra-widefield retinal imaging and an OCT scan, for the most complete check of your eye health. It costs £35 for adults. Find out more.

Can I get help with the cost of glasses?

NHS optical vouchers help towards the cost of glasses or contact lenses for children, young people in full-time education, and adults who receive certain benefits or hold an HC2 or HC3 certificate. Ask us and we'll check what you're entitled to.

Glasses
How long will my new glasses take?

It depends on the lenses you choose. We'll give you a time when you order, and let you know as soon as your glasses are ready to collect.

Can you put new lenses in my own frames?

Often, yes. We'll check your frame first, as older frames can become fragile — and we'll always be honest with you if we don't think it's a good idea.

Will you adjust my glasses?

Glasses supplied by us can be adjusted free of charge at any time — just pop in. For glasses bought elsewhere, we'll look at them on a case-by-case basis, as frames can sometimes break during adjustment.

Do you repair glasses?

For glasses we've supplied, yes — bring them in and we'll see what we can do. For glasses bought elsewhere, we'll take a look and advise you honestly on a case-by-case basis.

Which lenses do you offer?

As a ZEISS partner practice we offer the complete ZEISS range — everyday, varifocal, screen, driving, light-reactive, sun and children's lenses. See the range.

Eye health
What should I do if I have a problem with my eyes?

Call us first on 01236 449955 — we aim to see urgent problems the same day. When we're closed, call NHS 24 on 111. For a serious injury or chemical in the eye, go to A&E or call 999.

From what age can children have an eye test?

Any age — children don't need to be able to read. Children's eyecare.

Do you fit contact lenses?

Yes — Jacqueline has more than 30 years' experience fitting contact lenses, and we provide full aftercare. Contact lenses.

Do you do home visits?

We're not currently offering home visits, but please get in touch — we may be able to help, or refer you to another provider.
